Upcoming E-Sport Events in 2019

Yearly e-sport events and conventions bring the entire gaming fraternity together. This is a great time for hardcore gamers to meet and interact with the people who develop games and create all that stuff that makes video games interesting.

For gaming enthusiasts who have an interest in getting into development, e-sport events also bring the chance for some vital behind-the-scenes insights and advice from the developers.

But even much better, this is usually the time for video gaming companies to feature the best console and computer games some weeks (or even months) before release.

So, what e-sport events will be happening near you in 2019?

DreamHack Rotterdam

When: 18th to 20th October 2019
Where: Rotterdam Ahoy, Rotterdam

The Rotterdam Ahoy sits at the heart of Rotterdam. This venue which boasts a holding capacity of 15,000 spectators is very popular and versatile when large-scale conventions and concerts are held in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

It is, however, best known for the Rotterdam Games Week – an e-sports and gaming event that convenes thousands of gamers, game developers, and event-exclusive merchandizers in Rotterdam every year.

This year’s event is bound to be much bigger, much better and even more exciting now that Rotterdam Games Week and DreamHack have partnered to form what has been named the DreamHack Rotterdam.

As expected, this convention will happen in Rotterdam Ahoy and will take place from Friday 18 to Sunday 20th October 2019.

The DreamHack Rotterdam is expected to bring esports tournaments, cosplay competitions, and Bring Your Own computer LAN.

Also, this event will include an open championship in Counter-Strike Global Offensive with a whopping one hundred thousand dollars up for grabs. There will also be a lot of interactions with up and coming game developers and panel meeting. And since it will be in Rotterdam Ahoy, you should also expect some live music and performance.

When: 15th to 17th Nov, and 28th Nov to 1st Dec 2019
Where: Atlanta, USA and Jönköping, Sweden respectively

We bet you don’t need any introduction to DreamHack. This is a Swedish production company that specializes in organizing esports tournaments and gaming conventions.

DreamHack prides in being the world’s largest digital festival. Incredibly, the Guinness Book of Records once recognized it as the largest LAN party and digital festival with the fastest internet connection, plus the most generated traffic in the world.

It’s not surprising that DreamHack has set its foot all around the globe. It has had conventions across Europe in Sweden, France, Romania, England, Spain and Germany. It has also had numerous events in the USA, as well as Rio de Janeiro.

2019 has been and continues to be a busy year for DreamHack and had a series of events organized around the world. The recently finished events were in Mumbai and Montreal.

For the remaining part of this year, DreamHack has 2 events in its pipeline. One will be held in Atlanta from 15th to 17th November followed by another one in Dreamhack’s home country at Jonkoping.

These events will be for everyone and will feature live music, e-sports, Bring Your Own Computer LAN, cosplay competitions, and indies.

Eurogamer Expo (EGX)

When: 17th- 20th October 2019
Where: Excel, London

Previously known as the Eurogamer Expo, EGX is to the UK gaming community what the E3 is to the American gamers.

EGX is the biggest gaming event in the UK. It takes place annually in the UK and Germany and runs for up to 4 days.

In April, the EGX held a function in Berlin but it’s back in London this October. The event will be held at the Excel Centre.

The organizers say that the attendees will have an opportunity to meet their favorite game creators and to experience demos of games to come. There will also be one-on-one panels and Q&As sessions with industry experts as well as career fairs with potential employers. So, if you are ambitious about working in this vast industry, this might be an opportunity to network and connect with those who are already in it.

The EGX hasn’t revealed the games that will be featured in this upcoming event yet. However, considering that Switch Lite is barely 2 months old and a set of Pokeman games are bound to be released before the end of the year, it’s very likely that these will be among the key highlights.

Paris Games Week (PGW)

When: 30th Oct- 03rd Nov 2019
Where: Paris, France

The Paris Games Week (PGW) is a video games trade fair that takes place annually. This event takes place at the Paris expo Porte de Versailles – a 60,000 sq2 venue that is capable of accommodating upwards of 300,000 attendees.

Perhaps the most exciting bit about the Paris Games Week is that EA will be part of it. On ea.com, this creator of some of the most famous sports simulation and modern warfare games says that it will have a booth with over 100 game stations for its fans.

The PGW is expected to be event rich and will feature esport championships, game test, cosplay, and conferences among other activities.

When: 1st Nov to 3rd Nov 2019
Where: Anaheim, California, USA
Venue: Anaheim Convention Center

Slated for 1st November through 3rd November, Blizzcon will be epic for Blizzard fans who are eager to find out what’s new in Diablo, Starcraft, WoW, Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone among other franchises.

Blizzcon gaming convention happens annually and it’s organized by Blizzard Entertainment. Since its conception in October 2005, it has always been held at Anaheim, California. So it’s not surprising that this year’s event will still be held there.

Following the new Blizzcon key art that Blizzard posted on twitter, we don’t know for sure what the future holds for Diablo. We can also only speculate what role Sylvana will play now that she’s made an appearance in the key art.

This art also left most fans wondering whether Blizzard Ent. will finally be announcing when they’ll release Diablo Immortal. All in all, there’s only way to find out.

The Blizzcon convention will feature content and previews of upcoming games, key game-related announcements, and Q&As sessions and panels among other unavoidable activities.
